China to Purchase 200 Boeing Aircraft After Negotiations with the U.S.

Beijing and Washington have agreed on a major aviation deal.

China will acquire 200 Boeing aircraft from the United States based on its own needs. This was reported by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.

"In accordance with the important agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries, the aviation industry of China, based on its own needs for the development of air transportation, will purchase 200 Boeing aircraft on commercial terms. At the same time, the American side will ensure reliable supplies of engines and spare parts to China," the statement said, referring to consultations that took place on May 12–13 in the Republic of Korea.

On May 15, Boeing issued a statement confirming the official resumption of order acceptance in the Chinese market. The statement emphasized that the visit of the American delegation to Beijing, which included Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, allowed for the achievement of this important goal, concluding a preliminary agreement for the supply of 200 aircraft.

Commenting on the deal, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in a television interview that the commitment to purchase 200 large aircraft will contribute to the creation of a large number of jobs for American workers.

In the editorial's opinion, the major contract between China and Boeing demonstrates that even amid geopolitical tensions, Beijing and Washington continue to maintain mutually beneficial economic cooperation in strategically important areas. For Boeing, the deal could provide significant support in one of the largest aviation markets in the world, while for China, it presents an opportunity to meet the growing demand for air transportation.
