Монета в два евро с Сипсике

The Bank of Estonia will issue a 2 euro coin with a special design featuring a popular character from Estonian children's literature, created over half a century ago by renowned children's writer Eno Raud and artist Edgar Valter.

The first stories about the rag doll Sipsik were published in the 1960s. Over time, this cheerful character has become a symbol of Estonian children's literature, beloved by many generations of readers. Sipsik's adventures have been translated into many languages, including English and Latvian. Based on this, the Bank of Estonia has decided to immortalize Sipsik in a charming coin, which is sure to please not only collectors but also all residents of the Baltics.

The coin, featuring Sipsik with his recognizable thread hair on the obverse, will enter circulation through banks and retail businesses on June 5. The mintage will be one million pieces, with 8,500 issued in special collector packaging. The coin's design was created by artist Ivar Sakk, based on a sketch by Edgar Valter. The design of the coin card was created by graphic artist Vladimir Taiger, who also developed the design of the Estonian kroon. The coin itself was minted at the Lithuanian Mint.
