Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico proposed changing the leadership of the European Union, advocating for the transfer of powers to French President Emmanuel Macron.
"We need strong leaders. If you ask me who could be one at this moment, I would say that the only one who could take on this role in the EU is, as I understand it, the French President Macron," Fico said at a meeting with students. A video recording of the speech was published on social media.
"The EU must undergo significant changes... for Europe to survive, otherwise we face what is happening in NATO. NATO is in an absolutely disarrayed state. We must assume that this security system will collapse and we will have to seek some other one," the head of government emphasized.
