The Estonian authorities expect greater control from Ukraine over its drones. This was stated by the defense minister of the republic, Hanno Pevkur, according to ERR.

"For the Ukrainian side, the simplest way to keep their drones away from our territory is to have more effective control over their activities," said Pevkur.

The defense ministers of Estonia and Ukraine last spoke a week ago when a drone entered Estonian airspace. According to Pevkur, all the measures previously discussed were brought up again at that time.

"The trajectory can be changed, and the flight of the drone can be controlled because they are equipped with so-called kill switches – automatic self-destruction systems. If it is seen that the drone deviates from its course, it can be remotely eliminated," explained Pevkur.

It is noted that after several incidents involving drones, Kyiv wants to send its experts to the Baltic states to enhance air security and has already contacted the Estonian embassy regarding this matter.

Ukraine has the right to defend itself and strike Russian targets; however, as noted by Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, the Estonian government is very concerned about the risk of serious incidents. Risk reduction has already been discussed with the Ukrainian side.

At the same time, it is important to understand that Ukrainian drones are flying near the border not by chance. According to the minister, Russia fears NATO, which is why, for example, it does not deploy missile systems near the border.
