Instructions for Medicines in Estonia Will No Longer Be Translated into Russian

Starting in May, Russian-language inserts for medicines will become unavailable in the Estonian Medicines Register, as the government ceases their translation and updating.

According to the Medicines Department, the register will retain instructions in Estonian, and for products authorized for sale by the European Commission, information in English will also be available.

Russian-language instructions will no longer be added to the register or updated. Estonia has decided that preparing and updating translations into Russian is no longer feasible.

Until now, there were just over 600 Russian-language inserts in the Estonian Medicines Register.

The government recommends using online translators when necessary, which allow texts to be translated into the desired language. At the same time, it is noted that translations performed by artificial intelligence may not always be completely accurate.
