The Numbeo service, as reported by the RTVI US channel, calculated the cost per square meter of housing in 20 megacities around the world - the list includes not only capitals.
The most expensive housing is in New York, where the cost per square meter is $19,711! The British capital follows closely behind, with the cost per square meter of housing at $19,457. Shanghai enters the top three, though with a noticeable gap, where the cost per square meter will be $14,101.
It is noteworthy that housing is still very expensive in Moscow - in the Russian capital, the cost per square meter is $11,727.
Riga ranks second from the bottom, where one square meter costs $3,194. It is only cheaper in Tbilisi - $2,514.
For comparison: in Tallinn, the cost per square meter is $5,375, and in Vilnius - $6,237.
