Hourly Wage in the EU: Where Does Latvia Stand?

The Federal Statistical Office of Germany has compiled a "ranking" of EU countries based on hourly wage.

Today, German statisticians released a table of data on hourly wages in European Union countries. The table includes all EU countries except Belgium, which did not provide data.

So, the highest hourly wage is earned by workers in Luxembourg - €56.80! Denmark takes second place, where one can earn €51.70 per hour. The Netherlands rounds out the top three, with an hourly wage of €47.90.

Austria is in fourth place at €46.30 per hour, and Germany completes the top five at €45 per hour.

Notably, the average figure for the EU is €34.90.

So how does Latvia compare? We also make it into the top five, but... from the bottom. We rank fourth worst, with an hourly wage of €16.30, which is, for example, twice less than in Italy.

Less than in Latvia is paid in Hungary - €15.20, in Romania - €13.60, and in Bulgaria - €12.

And what about our Baltic neighbors? In Lithuania, an hour of work costs €17.80, while in Estonia it is €21.10.
