Iran's Sensational Proposal: Opening the Strait of Hormuz in Exchange for Peace and Delay of Nuclear Talks with the U.S.

Tehran has put forward a new peace proposal to Washington, which includes unlocking the Strait of Hormuz, extending the ceasefire, or even completely ending the conflict, but with the condition of postponing negotiations on the nuclear program to a later date.

Iran has presented a fresh peace proposal to the United States. It includes the opening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, as well as an extension of the ceasefire or a complete end to the military conflict. At the same time, Tehran insists on postponing nuclear negotiations to a later date. This was reported by "European Truth," citing Axios data.

According to sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed intermediaries from Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar over the weekend about internal disagreements. There is no consensus within the Iranian leadership regarding the response to recent U.S. demands. Washington insists on a minimum ten-year suspension of Iran's uranium enrichment and its export outside the country.

Through Pakistani intermediaries, Iran conveyed a new proposal to the U.S. It prioritizes resolving the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the American blockade. Under this initiative, both a long-term extension of the ceasefire and a complete cessation of hostilities are possible.

Tehran proposes to begin negotiations on the nuclear program later. This will occur after the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of the blockade, and the achievement of a new ceasefire agreement. The White House has already received this proposal, but it is still unclear whether the United States is willing to consider it.

White House Press Secretary Olivia Wells commented on the situation. She stated, "These are delicate diplomatic negotiations, and the U.S. will not negotiate through the press. As the president said, the U.S. has leverage, and they will only make a deal if the interests of the American people come first and will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons."

According to three American officials, on April 27, U.S. President Donald Trump has scheduled an important meeting. It will take place in the Situation Room with his national security and foreign policy team and will focus on Iran.

The publication emphasizes that lifting the blockade and ending the war could deprive President Trump of key levers of influence. These levers are important for future negotiations on eliminating Iran's stockpiles of enriched uranium and persuading Tehran to cease enrichment. These objectives were previously identified by the U.S. president as his main goals.
