Iran has outlined its strict conditions for a meaningful ceasefire

Tehran has clearly outlined under what circumstances a ceasefire in the conflict with the U.S. will become truly significant and effective.

Iran stated that any ceasefire in the confrontation with the United States would only make sense if there is a complete cessation of the "maritime blockade" and an immediate halt to "hostile actions" from Israel. These demands were articulated as key to achieving genuine peace.

Conditions for Ceasefire

The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, emphasized on social media that a full ceasefire is only possible if a number of specific conditions are met. According to him, the ceasefire must not be violated by "maritime blockade and the hostage-taking of the global economy."

Ghalibaf also added to the list of mandatory conditions the cessation of "hostile actions by the Zionists on all fronts." This is a critically important aspect for Tehran, determining the viability of any agreement.

Ghalibaf's direct quote: "The opening of the Strait of Hormuz is impossible under gross violations of the ceasefire. They (Israel and the U.S. – ed.) have not achieved their goals through military aggression and will not achieve them through intimidation. The only way forward is to recognize the rights of the Iranian people."

Background of Events

Earlier, on April 20, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that official Tehran does not plan to hold a new round of negotiations with the U.S. This statement followed after White House chief Donald Trump announced their conduct on Monday in Pakistan.

American President Donald Trump had previously announced the extension of the ceasefire regime with Iran. This regime was set to expire on April 22 but has been prolonged.
