According to informed sources from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth was deeply concerned. He was troubled by the real possibility that U.S. President Donald Trump would remove him from office, appointing Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll to this key position.
The publication notes that the head of the defense department had justified concerns. “Hegseth feared that Trump was considering Driscoll as his replacement. Moreover, it was widely believed within the administration that Driscoll was protected in his position due to his close ties with [U.S. Vice President J.D.] Vance, who attended Yale Law School with the Army Secretary,” the source reports.
An Awkward Situation with a Quote
This is not the first time the Pentagon chief has found himself in the spotlight due to an awkward situation. Previously, the Iranian embassy in Turkey openly mocked Hegseth after a rather loud blunder that occurred right within the walls of the Pentagon. He mistakenly quoted a prayer that turned out not to be from the Bible, but from Quentin Tarantino's cult film "Pulp Fiction."
The American minister uttered this phrase while discussing the rescue operation of American pilots in Iran. He seriously presented a monologue from the film as a sacred biblical prayer, which caused a wave of confusion and ridicule.
