Won the lottery... a Picasso painting

For 100 euros, a painting worth a million was obtained!

In Paris, a man received a Picasso painting worth 1 million euros for 100 euros. He won it in a lottery organized by the auction house Christie's in Paris. The prize was the painting "Head of a Woman" (Tête de femme) - a portrait painted by Pablo Picasso in gouache on paper in 1941.

The winner was Paris resident Ari Khodara, as reported by Deutsche Welle. According to Khodara, he bought the lottery ticket on the last weekend before the draw, having learned about it by chance. When he received a call from the auction house congratulating him on his win, the man initially thought it might be a scam.

The event can also be called successful - according to the organizers, more than 120,000 tickets were sold for the 1 million euro painting draw at a price of 100 euros each. This allowed them to raise about 11 million euros for Alzheimer's disease research.

Tickets for the "One Picasso for 100 Euros" lottery could be purchased online not only by residents of Paris. Local legislation prevented the competition from being organized in Germany. Shortly after ticket sales began, an announcement appeared on the lottery website stating that the German authorities had ordered the cessation of ticket sales in Germany. "We are actively working to normalize the situation. Until then, visitors in Germany cannot purchase tickets. Already purchased tickets are not affected," the announcement stated.
