A shooting occurred at a secondary school in the city of Kahramanmaraş in southeastern Turkey on Wednesday, April 15. As a result, at least four people were killed - a teacher and three students. Twenty people were injured, with at least four of them in serious condition, reports the Associated Press citing local authorities.
The governor of Kahramanmaraş province, Mükerrem Ünlüer, specified that the gunfire in two classrooms was opened by one of the students, who was also killed. It is reported that the young man came to school with five firearms belonging to his father - a retired police officer - and seven magazines for them.
The motives of the attacker remain unknown.
This is the second school shooting in Turkey in two days
On April 14, a shooting also occurred at a vocational high school in the city of Siverek, also in southeastern Turkey, resulting in 16 injuries. The attacker - a former student of the same school born in 2007 - committed suicide when police attempted to apprehend him.
