Russia demands Ukraine to withdraw from Donbas within two months - Zelensky

Russia demands that Ukraine withdraw from Donbas within two months, threatening to reconsider the terms of peace otherwise, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday, according to LETA citing UNN/‘Ukrainian Truth’.

Russia claims it will occupy Donbas within two months and that Ukraine has two months to withdraw from the region, after which the war will end, Zelensky reported. At the same time, he expressed surprise that anyone could believe Russia's assertion that the war or its active phase will end if the Ukrainian army withdraws from Donbas.

The President of Ukraine also noted the illogical nature of such statements from Russia.

"If their goal is only Donbas, why do they immediately talk about further advances and new conditions? This means that it is not just about Donbas. We understand their goals," Zelensky stated.

He emphasized that Russia is not capable of occupying Donbas within two months.

Zelensky reported that he plans to discuss the situation with representatives of the United States via video call in the near future.
