Pope Leo XIV has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by the American portal Axios, citing sources.
"Leo has begun to speak out openly on issues of immigration and conflicts, and increasingly opposes the war with Iran," the publication writes.
The current pontiff, Axios notes, is the first head of the Catholic Church born in the United States, which, given his status, places Leo XIV in a "unique position."
Earlier, Leo XIV stated that God rejects the prayers of those world leaders who wage wars.
