MWM: Iran could have used the Majid air defense system to strike the fighter jet.

A missile from the mobile air defense missile system Majid (also referred to as AD-08), which is mounted on the Iveco Daily SUV, may have struck the American fifth-generation fighter jet in central Iran. This was reported by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).

"This strike has serious implications for the current air campaign and could potentially reduce the efforts of the U.S. and Israel to use stealth aircraft for strikes deep into Iran," the publication states.

The magazine notes that the short-range air defense system Majid, first presented on April 18, 2021, at a parade in Tehran, is capable of hitting targets at altitudes of up to six kilometers thanks to its infrared homing missile.

"The reduction in radar visibility of the F-35 is significantly greater than the reduction in thermal visibility, which has led to infrared-guided systems being identified as a potential vulnerability at early stages of the [fifth-generation fighter] program," the publication assures.
