Kyiv's refusal to allow access to the Druzhba pipeline for inspection is "not encouraging at all" for the European Union (EU). This was the reaction of an unnamed European diplomat to the decision of the Ukrainian authorities, reports the portal Euractiv.

The EU's pessimism was not softened even by the fact that Kyiv "provided good explanations" regarding the difficulties with the pipeline repairs.

"The EU offered Ukraine technical support and funding," stated a joint statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa on March 17.
