The top military representative of Iran warned that Tehran may be planning attacks on civilian targets worldwide.
The military leadership of Iran has issued an open threat that could fundamentally change the level of security in popular tourist locations around the world. A representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran, General Abolfazl Shekarchi, stated the regime's intention to shift confrontations to civilian targets outside the Middle East.
"From now on, based on the information we have about you, even parks, recreation areas, and tourist spots anywhere in the world will no longer be safe for you," said Abolfazl Shekarchi, as reported by Iranian state television.
This raises concerns among analysts, as the war continues, that Iran may return to using military actions beyond the Middle East as a pressure tactic during the conflict.
At the beginning of the war, the intelligence division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security also warned that Iran might strike American territory, although a large-scale physical attack was deemed unlikely.
The head of the German parliamentary committee overseeing the activities of intelligence services, Mark Heinrichmann, had previously warned of terrorist attacks outside the Middle East.
"Retaliatory measures cannot be ruled out, including those carried out by Iranian secret cells in Europe," he told the Suddeutsche Zeitung.
