A woman died when a cable car cabin fell at the Engelberg ski resort in the Swiss Alps, authorities reported, according to LETA citing the BBC.
The cabin detached from the cable around 11:00 on Wednesday "for reasons that are still unclear," reported the police of the Nidwalden canton.
At the time of the accident, strong winds were observed in the area, witnesses told Swiss media.
The victim was a 61-year-old local resident, authorities confirmed.
An investigation into the causes of the incident is underway.
