But first, a mandate must be obtained from all EU countries.
The Prime Minister of Belgium called on the EU to negotiate with Russia regarding Ukraine. "Since we cannot intimidate Putin by supplying weapons to Ukraine, and we cannot bring him to his knees economically without the support of the United States, there is only one way left: to reach an agreement," Bart De Wever (in the photo) stated in an interview with the Belgian newspaper L'Echo. He expressed the opinion, as reported by Deutsche Welle, that the US is "not fully" on the side of Kyiv, and sometimes it seems that they are "closer to Putin."
De Wever urged the European Union to obtain a mandate from its member states for negotiations with the Russian Federation. "Without a mandate to travel to Moscow, we will not sit at the negotiating table, where the Americans will be pressuring Ukraine to accept a deal. And I can already say that this will be a bad deal for us," predicted the head of the Belgian government.
