The EU's Chief Diplomat Outlines the 'Insidious Plan' of the U.S.

Kaja Kallas is unhappy with Trump.

Trump seeks to divide Europe, said Kaja Kallas. "I think it is important for everyone to understand that the U.S. has clearly stated its desire to divide Europe. They do not like the European Union," the head of EU diplomacy said in an interview with the Financial Times. She pointed out that the President of the United States uses economic threats and tariffs, and has "considered the possibility of annexing Greenland and exploited Europe's dependence on Washington for defense and security issues to pressure Brussels." Additionally, as reported by Deutsche Welle, according to Kaja Kallas, the ultra-conservative MAGA movement supporting Donald Trump backs far-right, populist, and Eurosceptic parties across the European continent. Since his return to the White House, Trump has repeatedly harshly criticized the European Union, claiming it was created allegedly to "use" the United States. Kallas characterized the current relationship between Brussels and Washington as "very complicated," noting that the 27 member states of the union have differing views on how to build further relations with the U.S. EU countries like Hungary and Slovakia, ideologically close to Moscow's rhetoric, "react sharply to any initiatives that could escalate relations with Trump or accelerate the potential withdrawal of American troops from the continent," FT notes.
