The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on Saturday called on its ally Iran to refrain from attacks on neighboring countries, while simultaneously supporting Tehran's right to defend itself against Israel and the U.S., LETA reported citing AFP.
"Affirming the right of the Islamic Republic of Iran to respond to this aggression by all available means in accordance with international norms and laws, the movement calls on its brothers in Iran to avoid attacks on neighboring countries," stated Hamas.
"Hamas," which waged a destructive war with Israel in the Gaza Strip for two years following a brutal massacre in Israel, also urged the international community to immediately "work towards ending" the current war.
The group previously condemned the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the first day of the war as a "horrific crime," openly acknowledging his long-standing support for the Palestinian movement.
"He provided our nation, our cause, and our resistance with various political, diplomatic, and military support," the movement stated shortly after Khamenei's assassination.
The U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28, to which Iran responded with missile and drone strikes on Middle Eastern countries housing U.S. military facilities.
