A fire broke out aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, injuring two American sailors. This was reported by the U.S. Navy Central Command on social media platform X.
"On March 12, a fire occurred in the main laundry facilities of the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78)," the statement said.
According to military sources, the fire is not related to combat operations and has been contained.
It is claimed that no damage to the power plant has been recorded, and the aircraft carrier "remains fully operational."
"Two sailors are currently receiving medical assistance for injuries that are not life-threatening and are in stable condition. Further information will be provided as it becomes available," the statement said.
Currently, the Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group is operating in the Red Sea in support of Operation Epic Fury.
