Another journalist has been detained in Russia. He wrote about the confiscation of cows from farmers

The police in Russia's Novosibirsk detained journalist Ivan Frolov, who wrote about farmers' protests against the confiscation of livestock, LETA reports citing MEDUZA.

Frolov was detained under the Criminal Code article on the public dissemination of false information about circumstances threatening the life and safety of the population.

The journalist believes that the criminal prosecution is related to his writings about the confiscation of cows from farmers in the village of Gnedukhino in the Novosibirsk region, which the authorities explained as a response to an outbreak of disease. The case materials were published in the Telegram channel of Frolov's colleague Vitaly Bochkarev.

In the Novosibirsk region, farmers are protesting against the mass culling of livestock. They are outraged that the authorities demand the destruction of animals, limiting themselves to a statement about a dangerous disease and not providing further explanations. Additionally, livestock owners are dissatisfied with the amount of compensation promised to them for the destroyed animals.

As part of the protests, farmers blocked roads, and several participants in the protests were issued administrative protocols for participating in an unauthorized action.
