What will happen to fuel prices? Oil production at one of the largest fields in the world has ceased

Shafaq News: Iraq has halted oil production at the Rumaila field.

Iraqi authorities have completely halted oil production at the Rumaila field, one of the largest in the world. This was reported by Shafaq News citing local sources.

The decision was made due to disruptions in exports, which in turn were caused by ongoing military actions in the region and the filling of existing storage facilities.

It is noted that currently, Iraqi army units, supported by armored vehicles, have been deployed in the Al-Zubair area, west of Basra, to ensure the security of oil fields and other critical facilities amid escalating tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran.

Previously, the American company Gulf Keystone Petroleum suspended operations at the Shaikan oil field in Iraqi Kurdistan as a precautionary measure. Similar actions were taken by Dana Gas and DNO.

Earlier, a forecast was published stating that Iraq would be the first of the Middle Eastern countries to cease oil production due to a lack of storage and tankers ready to transport it.
