Hegset: there are currently no U.S. troops in Iran.
There are currently no American troops in Iran. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegset during a press conference on Operation 'Epic Fury' against Iran, CNBC reports.
'President Trump guarantees that our enemies will understand that we will go as far as necessary to advance American interests,' Hegset emphasized.
The Pentagon chief stated that there are no American troops on Iranian territory but did not rule out the possibility of their deployment in the future, refusing to disclose options for action. He added that to achieve U.S. goals in Iran, 'it is not necessary to deploy 200,000 people there and stay for 20 years.'
Earlier, Hegset stated that the U.S. air operation 'Epic Fury' against Iran is 'the most complex and precise' in American history.
