Denmark was unaware of the U.S. dispatch of a vessel to Greenland to care for the locals.
Danish authorities were unaware of the United States' dispatch of a vessel to Greenland to care for the local residents. This is reported by the media.
Danish publications, citing sources in the country's government, claim that Copenhagen was not informed of the U.S. plans to send a floating hospital to the island.
"The Danish government is not aware of any plans for a floating hospital to be sent from the U.S. to Greenland (...) There is no need for special measures (...)" the country's authorities responded. The news that the U.S. president intends to send a medical vessel to Greenland became known from his post on the social network Truth Social. He stated that help is "already on the way."
On February 14, the White House published a Valentine’s Day card featuring Greenland and urged the island to "define its relationship." The same publication included a Valentine’s Day card with a photograph of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro during his kidnapping in early January 2026.
