Reuters: Slovak Prime Minister Fico accused Ukraine of political blackmail against Hungary.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused Ukraine of attempting to pressure Hungary. This was reported by Reuters.
After a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Bratislava, Fico stated that he is concerned that the Druzhba pipeline has still not been repaired. In his opinion, Kyiv is delaying the restart of the pipeline through which Russian oil is transported to Eastern Europe via Ukraine to exert pressure on Hungary, which opposes Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU).
"I perceive what is happening today around the oil industry as political blackmail against Hungary due to Hungary's uncompromising position on Ukraine's EU membership," explained Robert Fico. According to the Slovak Prime Minister, the blackmail is that if Hungary agrees to Ukraine's EU membership, oil supplies may begin.
"There has been so much lying on both sides that I do not have the courage to say who bombed or destroyed part of the oil infrastructure," Fico told reporters. According to him, he does not know who is responsible for the destruction of the pipeline.
