TNI: Germany's 105 tanks in Lithuania at the borders with Belarus and Russia are part of NATO's plan 'OPLAN DEU' (operational military plan related to Germany's involvement).

The 105 tanks that Germany is deploying to Lithuania at the border with Belarus — one of Russia's main allies — are part of NATO's OPLAN DEU plan for war with Moscow, in which Berlin plays a central role, explains Peter Suciu, a columnist for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI).

"Last month, two combat battalions arrived in Lithuania as part of the anticipated increase in military presence, resulting in over 5,000 troops potentially being stationed in the largest Baltic country by 2027," the publication states.

The author describes the Bundeswehr's buildup in the Baltic states as the largest permanent deployment of German troops abroad since World War II. "The deployment of German troops in Lithuania is intended to deter Moscow and give Berlin time to respond in the event of a Russian invasion," the columnist writes.
