In Moscow, the Deputy Head of the Russian Military Intelligence Agency (GRU), Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, was injured on Friday, the Investigative Committee reported, according to LETA citing Meduza.
The general was injured at a house on Volokolamskoye Highway. He was taken to the hospital.
On Friday, "an unidentified person fired several shots at a man and fled the scene," the committee's statement said.
The general was taken to a Moscow hospital, and details about his condition have not been disclosed.
According to Telegram channels Mash and Baza, Alekseev was shot in the back.
A criminal case has been initiated under articles for attempted murder and illegal trafficking of firearms.
