Since the protests began in December, more than 6,100 people have been killed in Iran, the U.S.-based human rights agency HRANA stated on Tuesday, according to LETA citing AP.
HRANA reported that 6,126 deaths have been confirmed so far. Among the deceased are at least 5,777 demonstrators, 214 security forces, 86 minors, and 49 civilians not involved in the protests.
Activists noted that assessing and verifying the number of deaths takes a long time, as the process is hindered by internet disruptions and restrictions.
Iranian authorities have acknowledged that 3,117 people have died during the crackdown on protests.
