The Danish publication Berlingske has released documents that appear to have been leaked by Danish intelligence regarding U.S. surveillance of Greenland.

U.S. military personnel secretly monitored Greenland and Danish military facilities located on the island. This is reported by Berlingske, citing classified documents from the Danish Ministry of Defense that have come to light.

"The heavily censored documents show that American military personnel were allegedly gathering information about critical infrastructure on Greenland itself," the journalists stated.

It is reported that in 2025, American military officials unofficially and without the consent of Copenhagen attempted to compel their Danish counterparts in Greenland to provide information about military facilities, ports, and air bases on the island. The command on the island promptly informed the senior military leadership of Denmark. Experts interviewed by the publication expressed concerns about further U.S. espionage operations in Greenland.

Previously, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen commented on U.S. President Donald Trump, describing him as speaking in a gangster's language. According to the politician, the American leader uses the topic of Greenland "as a weapon of mass distraction from real threats."
