By 2039, the number of professional servicemen in the Armed Forces of Poland should increase to 300,000, and together with reservists – to half a million.
Such plans were presented by Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense Stanisław Żaryn during a meeting of the parliamentary commission on national defense.
As the deputy minister noted, by 2039, the number of Armed Forces personnel should increase to 500,000, including 300,000 in active military service and 200,000 in reserve. This is also outlined in the Program for the Development of the Armed Forces of Poland – a secret document that is developed by the Ministry of Defense every few years.
The distant timeline raised concerns among some deputies during the commission meeting. However, Żaryn expressed confidence that this process will gain momentum and the target of 500,000 will be reached sooner.
If we exclude the armies of Russia (1.3–1.5 million fighters) and Ukraine (800–900 thousand), the current army of France includes 205,000 soldiers, Germany – 182,000, the United Kingdom – 180,000, Italy – 165,000, Spain – 120,000, Greece – 105–110 thousand.
