Did NATO Secretary General Fear Trump? And Did He 'Mumble' About Greenland?

Guardian: Rutte did not answer the question about Greenland and did not criticize Trump.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte dodged a question about Greenland and did not criticize U.S. President Donald Trump for his policy regarding the island. This was reported by The Guardian.

"The [Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance] did not answer the specific question about Trump's comments regarding Greenland, but said he welcomes discussions among other allies about the idea of 'coming together and working together,' as well as more active participation in Arctic and Far North affairs," the article states.

Rutte also responded to criticism directed at him for his constant praise of Trump, stating that, in his opinion, Trump is doing the right thing for NATO. He noted that he was "absolutely confident" that without Trump, the alliance would never have achieved such a result at the summit in The Hague last year, when the defense spending threshold was increased to 5 percent of GDP.

"So, when I praise someone, I rely on facts, and I believe the facts are clear," he said.
