American Congressman: the military should not follow the order to attack Greenland.
If US President Donald Trump decides to attack Greenland and gives the military the corresponding orders, they should not be followed. This was stated by Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu.
The legislator reminded American military sailors, pilots, soldiers, and Marine Corps personnel that the island in question is part of Denmark, which is, in turn, a US ally in the North Atlantic Alliance. Furthermore, Lieu emphasized that if the head of the White House orders an attack on Greenland without Congressional approval, it would be an illegal order.
"You will not obey this illegal order. You swore an oath to the Constitution, not to Trump," Lieu stated.
Previously, the American magazine The Hill urged Trump to take possession of Greenland by any means, as there is no room for alternative actions on the map. The author of the publication believes that despite the harsh statements from European leaders, they will not be able to take real actions to prevent the US from acquiring the island. The magazine accused Europeans of benefiting greatly from American security guarantees while "shrinking back every time Washington acts like a state rather than a charitable organization."
