The year has started tumultuously," wrote the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. According to him, this is connected with several notable events. First and foremost, the beginning of 2026, Medvedev believes, will be remembered for the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Medvedev also predicted problems for Russia. Thus, the beginning of 2026 was marked by the possible introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, and the seizure of a Russian tanker, he noted. "Current international relations have turned into outright bedlam since the beginning of the year," Medvedev expressed his dissatisfaction.
