Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has developed an evacuation plan in case the security forces are unable to suppress protests in the country. This was reported by The Times, citing intelligence reports.

The article states that the 86-year-old leader of Iran intends to flee Tehran accompanied by a close entourage consisting of 20 aides and family members. This scenario is possible if Khamenei sees that the army and security forces are switching sides to the protesters or cease to follow orders.

"Khamenei is fleeing to Moscow because there is no other place for him," said former Israeli intelligence officer Benny Sabti, who escaped from Iran eight years after the Islamic Revolution in an interview with the newspaper.

The escape plan itself, the authors note, is based on the experience of the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's flight.
