Japan's Defense Ministry: North Korea launched two missiles towards the Sea of Japan.
North Korea launched at least two ballistic missiles in the direction of the Sea of Japan. This was announced by Japan's Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi.
"The first missile was fired at approximately 07:54 local time (00:54 Riga time — ed.), reached a maximum altitude of about 50 kilometers, and flew approximately 900 kilometers. The second missile was launched at about 08:05 (01:05 Riga time — ed.), reached a maximum altitude of about 50 kilometers, and flew approximately 950 kilometers," the Japanese Ministry of Defense reported.
It is noted that in connection with this incident, representatives of Tokyo sent a strong protest to Pyongyang through their embassy in Beijing.
At the end of December, official representatives of North Korea announced successful launches of long-range strategic cruise missiles into the sea.
