WSJ stated that the CIA did not confirm the version of the attack on Putin's residence.

The West has revealed the assessment of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States regarding the attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. As reported by the American publication The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. intelligence agency did not confirm the version of a Ukrainian strike - therefore, the Kremlin's version may be a provocation.

"This conclusion is supported by the CIA's assessment, which established that there were no attempts to attack Putin," the publication wrote, citing a source in the American administration.

On the evening of December 28, the Kremlin allegedly announced an attack on Putin's residence in the Novgorod region using drones. The drones were reportedly launched from the territories of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow will tighten its negotiating position on Ukraine after the attack. The version of the attack may be a provocation by the Kremlin, which is confirmed by the CIA's conclusions.
