The peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is unlikely to be entirely fair. This was stated by the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, in his New Year's address to the nation.
He emphasized that Russia is waging an "aggressive war" against Ukraine, and Moscow's actions are "illegal and immoral." At the same time, Stubb expressed his belief that thanks to international diplomatic efforts, "we are now closer to peace than ever before." However, he expressed doubt that Russia is ready for peace.
"Peace is often a compromise. We must be prepared to accept that some parts of a possible peace agreement may not align with our sense of justice," said Alexander Stubb.
He promised to do "everything possible" to preserve Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity and emphasized that Ukraine is part of a free and democratic Europe.
"We will continue to support Ukraine. We will continue to seek solutions. Together with our allies, we will do everything possible to ensure that Russia never attacks any of its neighbors again," said the President of Finland.
As reported by UNIAN, President Volodymyr Zelensky devoted almost his entire New Year's address to issues of war and peace negotiations. According to him, the peace agreement is 90% agreed upon, and the end of the war is possible as early as 2026.
Vladimir Putin dedicated a significant part of his New Year's address to the participants in the war against Ukraine, attempting to portray Russian aggression as a "struggle for truth and justice" and claiming alleged nationwide support for the army's actions. He completely avoided the topic of possible peace negotiations, indicating the Kremlin's intention to continue the war.
