The Israeli Prime Minister is not averse to striking Iran as a sponsor of terrorism.
One of the main topics of the upcoming visit to the U.S. by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump will be the transition to the implementation of the second phase of the agreement in Gaza.
This phase involves the disarmament of Hamas, which Israel links to the resumption of troop withdrawals from the sector. It was expected that this task would be assigned to international forces, which largely explains the reluctance of states to join them.
However, official sources in Egypt told the Lebanese publication "Al-Akhbar" that during recent discussions with American representatives, a preliminary agreement was reached that international forces will not engage in disarming the group.
According to them, an intra-Palestinian mechanism for the transfer of weapons will be created. It should be noted that earlier, the head of Hamas's political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, stated that the group would be ready to transfer weapons only to the Palestinian state.
Sources reported that the U.S. administration is exerting strong pressure on Israel to comply with the agreement. "Under these conditions, and considering that Hamas adheres to the ceasefire, Israeli threats do not convince anyone," they assert.
Earlier, NBC reported that amid growing concerns about Iran's increasing production of ballistic missiles, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present a new plan for an attack on the Islamic Republic during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by NBC citing a source familiar with the plan and four former U.S. officials.
Israeli officials believe that Iran is restoring facilities related to the production of ballistic missiles and repairing air defense systems damaged during strikes in June 2025. While the nuclear program remains a serious issue for Israel, the restoration of Iran's missile capabilities is considered a more immediate threat by Israeli leadership.
