The US and Ukraine continue to work on documents that should form the basis of agreements for peace with Russia and security guarantees. A peace agreement plan is already prepared with 20 points, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on the evening of Monday, December 22, during a meeting with employees of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of Diplomatic Service Workers' Day. According to him, the key document will be the security guarantees agreement, which will include a closed annex with details and commitments from the guarantor countries to support the Ukrainian army. In addition, work is ongoing on an agreement for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, Zelensky reported.
Later, he published part of the security guarantees that the Ukrainian side expects to receive from the US and Europe on his Telegram channel. Among them are material support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which should number 800,000 personnel, membership in the European Union, security in the air, at sea, and on land, as well as in energy, finance, and shelters “by a coalition of willing countries.”
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that American security guarantees will be formalized separately from European ones: to become legally binding, they must be approved by the US Congress. Representatives from both countries worked on the document, and this indicates that “we are very close to a real result,” concluded the President of Ukraine.
