"This is a declaration of war": Orban spoke harshly about the confiscation of Russian assets 0 15

"I am going to Brussels to fight," said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in one of his recent interviews regarding the situation with frozen Russian assets. According to him, the fact that Europeans are trying to 'get their hands on' Russia's money for the benefit of Ukraine is a 'declaration of war.'

"I have never seen asset seizures of 200-300 billion euros go without consequences. The situation is deteriorating at a furious pace every week," Orban noted during a meeting with voters in Mohács, organized by the 'Digital Civil Circles' (Digitális Polgári Körök), as reported by Magyar Nemzet.

He then explained that every nation has currency reserves that can be held in dollars or euros, which countries cannot keep within their own borders.

"Our national reserves are in the same place as the Russians' — with the Belgians. If they get access to these funds, we will also have to wonder whether they are in a safe place. Russian money was frozen in Belgium after the war began, and now they want to touch it. This is extremely unusual and dangerous, as the Belgians have an agreement under which they are responsible to the Russians for their money," he explained.

According to Orban, if Europeans go ahead with this step, then "perhaps other countries will stop keeping their money in euros." He also added that Europeans were initially assured that the war was "not being financed from their pockets, but from Russian assets."

Now European leaders will have to acknowledge that the war is being paid for not only by current Europeans but will also be paid for by their grandchildren, Orban added. "All these European leaders will fail because it will turn out that they cannot finance this war with Russian assets," he emphasized.
