Today the troops are undergoing large-scale changes directly during combat operations.
The Ground Forces represent an army of a new quality, thanks to which Ukraine has endured and continues to fight.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, as reported by the media citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Syrsky emphasized that the Ground Forces are a force that unites mechanized and tank units, artillery and missiles, army aviation and air defense, unmanned and robotic systems, special forces, and support units.
"Today, this is an army of a new quality, thanks to which Ukraine has endured and continues to fight," the general stated.
He reminded that at the beginning of the full-scale war, "it was the ground units that became the first shield against which the aggressor's army broke its teeth."
According to him, the Ukrainian infantry defended the capital, carried out a counteroffensive in Slobozhanshchyna, liberated the right bank of Kherson region, "destroyed Wagner in Bakhmut, and struck the enemy in Kursk region."
In his statement, the Commander-in-Chief also noted that the Ground Forces continue to hold the front line of Ukraine's defense: "Fortifications are important, but they are nothing if there is no Ukrainian infantry in these fortifications."
Syrsky noted that today the troops are undergoing large-scale changes directly during combat operations.
"Unmanned aerial systems, ground drones, combat modules, modern electronic warfare means, mobile assault groups - this is the new daily reality of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the statement reads.
He also emphasized the personal honor of serving alongside the ground troops.
"I am proud to have had the honor of being the commander of the Ground Forces. I have the honor today to lead the strongest ground army in Europe," the Commander-in-Chief stated.
In his address, the Commander-in-Chief honored the memory of the fallen.
"On this day, we honor each of our brothers and sisters - warriors of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine... Eternal memory and eternal glory to the Heroes," the message states.
The general concluded his address with gratitude to the living defenders: "Thank you to every soldier of the Ground Forces for serving the Ukrainian people, for resilience and faith in our Victory. For holding our land."
