Kaia Kalas dismissed Trump's criticism of the EU

The head of the EU foreign policy department, in an interview with Euronews at the Doha Forum in Qatar, decided to focus on unity in addressing global conflicts among allies.

The head of the EU foreign policy department, Kaia Kalas, stated that the U.S. remains Europe's largest ally despite criticism of the current trajectory of the bloc.

In an interview with Euronews at the Doha Forum in Qatar, she urged the world to focus on unity and stated that the two continents should "stick together."

"Let’s focus on what we can do together. I mean, we can take from this security strategy that we are still allies of America. We don’t always see all the details," she said.

"Let’s focus on the global challenges that we really have: this is, you know, economic coercion from China, which we both face, it’s the threat posed by malign actors such as Russia, China, Iran," Kalas added.

On Friday, the U.S. released a new U.S. National Security Strategy, which describes Europe as a declining continent, warns that European peoples face "civilizational erasure" due to migration, and suggests "cultivating resistance to the current trajectory of development in Europe within European countries."

Currently, U.S. representatives are negotiating with their Ukrainian counterparts to end the war with Russia.

Speaking about negotiations between the EU and Qatar on starting cooperation, Kalas said: "We see Qatar's growing role in the Middle East. I mean all facets of international mediation that it carries out when it comes to Sudan, as well as Gaza and Ukrainian children, for example, or the Great Lakes."

"We see that we have many areas where we can work together. Of course, not only on issues of peace and security but also on other matters such as trade, economic relations, innovation, technologies that we can develop," she added.
