Getting an appointment at the visa centers of popular Spain is practically impossible.
Italy remains the leader among European Union countries in the number of multiple-entry visas issued to Russians, reported the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
"After the new EU visa rules came into effect, tour operators received the first statistics on the issuance of Schengen visas. The overall picture shows that the visa process has not been suspended; however, some countries have started issuing more single-entry visas. Italy remains the leader in issuing multiple-entry visas. It issues visas of varying durations - from short (three to six months) to annual and even two-year visas, more often to those with a good visa history," the statement said.
France, which previously issued multiple-entry visas to Russians more frequently than others, has been mainly issuing single-entry visas in the last three weeks. Spain also primarily issues single-entry visas. "In Spain, the situation is exacerbated by a catastrophic shortage of available slots for appointments. As noted by one company, it is almost impossible to get an appointment at the visa centers in Spain, while the situation in Italy and France in Moscow and St. Petersburg is more stable," ATOR reported.
The visa policies of Greece and Hungary remain unchanged: even before November of this year, these countries were not inclined to frequently issue multiple-entry visas. According to Tez Tour, Greece continues to issue visas for specific trips; however, for cruises, it now issues double-entry visas for the duration of the trip, whereas multiple-entry visas were previously possible. At the same time, tour operators do not encounter any difficulties with appointments and document submissions at the consulates of these countries.
According to ATOR, Hungary remains one of the most loyal countries for Russians to obtain a Schengen visa. Despite the fact that most visas issued are single-entry, consulates periodically issue multiple-entry visas valid for one year. Processing times remain relatively fast (three to four weeks), and tour operators note a consistently high approval rate for applications - over 90%.
Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, and Austria continue to primarily issue single-entry visas.
