After the meeting of U.S. and Ukrainian representatives in Florida, Donald Trump stated that Kyiv has "some difficult little problems," but he sees a "good chance" for a deal to end the war, DW reports.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the prospects of reaching a deal to end the war in Ukraine following talks between delegations from the United States and Ukraine in Florida on Sunday, November 30.

Speaking to the press aboard Air Force One, the head of the White House noted that Ukraine has "some difficult little problems" and pointed out that the corruption scandal surrounding the Ukrainian state company "Energoatom" "does not help" the country. Trump did not answer a journalist's question about whether this would affect peace negotiations, but soon after added, "I think there is a good chance that we can make a deal."

Zelensky Announced 'Constructive Dynamics'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, after receiving a report from the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, who led the Ukrainian delegation in the talks in the U.S., also commented positively on the meeting.

"It is important that there is constructive dynamics in the negotiations, and that all issues were discussed openly and with a focus on ensuring the sovereignty and national interests of Ukraine. I am grateful to the United States, to President Trump's team, and to him personally for the time that is being so intensively invested in determining steps to end the war. We will continue to work," Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on social media.

Bilateral Talks in Florida

The meeting between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations, dedicated to discussing the terms of a possible peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv, took place on November 30 at the Shell Bay golf club, hosted by U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Whitcoff in Florida. Territorial issues, the timing of elections in Ukraine, and other complex matters were discussed, according to The Wall Street Journal.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who participated in the talks, described their results as "very productive," but noted that more work needs to be done to achieve peace in the war against Ukraine, and Russia must become "part of the equation." "We want to help Ukraine secure safety forever. And, equally importantly, we want a new era of real prosperity to begin there," said the Secretary of State.

Umerov, for his part, stated: "There are significant advances in promoting a worthy peace and aligning our positions with the American side." According to the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine, "the U.S. has provided very strong support" to Kyiv.
