Axios: Trump surrendered by supporting the vote in Congress on Epstein's files.
U.S. President Donald Trump was forced to change his position and support a vote in Congress to release documents related to financier Jeffrey Epstein. This was reported by Axios.
"It’s still too early to call President Trump a 'lame duck,' but Congress is ready to clip his wings over the Epstein case. (...) The inevitability of the vote forced him to change tactics, approve the vote — and appear the weakest since taking office," the publication states.
According to one of the White House officials interviewed by the publication, Trump surrendered and agreed to support the vote, realizing that the discussions surrounding Epstein's files remain a "serious distraction" that prevents Republicans from discussing the achievements of his administration — tax cuts, immigration policy, and peace agreements.
"Republicans are simply ignoring all of Trump’s achievements, taking them for granted and only talking about Jeffrey Epstein, who has been dead for several years. This is hurting the party, and the president is smart enough to understand that," he said.
