Farmers in the Leningrad region may have to reduce the volume of broiler production, as the available Kobb 500 incubation eggs have proven to be far from the previous quality, media reports.

Russian agricultural producers are complaining: while previously they could raise chicks to a weight of four kilograms, now they can only expect a maximum of 2.3 kilograms. Problems began in the summer of 2025. There is a risk that farmers will have to raise prices for their products by two and a half times to remain profitable. This will affect consumers' willingness to continue purchasing at previous volumes.

Agricultural producers blame the disappearance of Czech incubation eggs from the Russian market, as the Czech Republic is in the European Union, since the organization Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of products from a number of Czech poultry enterprises into Russia. Only incubation eggs from Turkey remain on the Russian market, the quality of which is often poor. It turned out that the Turks cannot fully replicate the European Kobb 500 standard.
