Aliyev proposed that the countries of the post-Soviet bloc conduct military exercises in Azerbaijan in 2026.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev proposed that the member states of the Turkic States Organization hold military exercises in 2026. His words were reported by the Azertaj agency.
"Considering the extensive cooperation of our countries in military, defense, and security areas, we propose to conduct joint military exercises of the member states of the Turkic States Organization in Azerbaijan in 2026," he said.
The 12th summit of the Turkic States Organization is taking place in the city of Gabala. The organization includes: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Turkey is a member of NATO.
Earlier, Baku conducted special forces exercises with Turkey. The event also involved Kazakhstan, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan.
