NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ironically commented on the prospect of nuclear tests in Russia during a conversation with journalists. He also made a quip about Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

At a press conference with Romanian President Nicolae Ciucă, the head of the North Atlantic Alliance was asked to comment on a meeting of the Russian Security Council, which discussed the feasibility of conducting nuclear tests. The Secretary General was also asked about NATO's response to Russian nuclear tests.

"I stopped reacting a long time ago to meetings organized by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He is paid as the President of Russia, so that’s why he organizes them," Rutte quipped.

On November 5, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to prepare proposals for nuclear tests.
